On April 5-8, 2008 in Cairo, Egypt, the Egyptian Society for the Management of Pain (IASP Chapter) held its 26th Education Pain Course and its 2008 Annual Meeting. This gathering, co-sponsored by the African Association for the Study of Pain, included a women’s pain symposium session on female genital mutilation (FGM), also known as female genital cutting (FGC). Speakers included IASP Past President Prof. Michael Bond, Global Year Task Force Chair Dr. Beverly Collett, Professor Mohamed Wesam, Bishop Passanti, and Modern Woman Society head Dr. Amal Abdel Hadi.
